Loynes Drive near N. Studebaker Road

Long Beach, CaliforniaMay 16, 20070 Comments

The location is on Loynes Dr W bound, just after turning from Studebaker. Most people drive about 40-45 mph on Loynes, but the posted speed is 35 mph. The officers hide back off of Loynes on a little street that goes down into the residential area, Palo Verde Ave (right after the bridge). Most people are accelerating after the turn and don’t even think to look down into the little turn-off on Palo Verde.

Heading east from E. PCH towards N. Studebaker Rd., you will find motorcycle officers meeting their quota on a daily basis. Be careful.

Broadway Street near Redondo Avenue

Motorcycle policeman hidden between Ximeno and Redondo. Enforces unrealistic 25 mph speed limit in mixed residential/commercial (primarily commercial) area. Gives tickets for 30 mph in this area. This may be same policeman working the Ocean Boulevard site previously mentioned.

All day long, especially weekends. Two moto cops hide in the apt building driveway and give tickets Every 5 minutes. I almost always wake up to it on sat and sun mornings. Do not go over 35, it ain’t worth it. This is between clark and bellflower blvd on atherton st.

Ocean Boulevard near Golden Shore Street

Long Beach, CaliforniaJan 10, 20070 Comments

Mostly Radar enforcement – motorcycle cops. This is heading (generally) Eastbound on Ocean Boulevard as you come through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Through the port – the speed limit is 45 MPH – very low for a limited access roadway that is 2 and 3 lanes wide each direction. But, once you get past the last bridges, the speed limit drops to 30 MPH along Ocean Boulevard – a 3 lane in each direction, major down town street. The officers are usually situated on Golden Shore Drive, just beyong the traffic light or across the street in the Hyatt (?) covered drive through (port au cochair?). Sometimes, the officers are right there on Ocean, pulling you over.

Additionally, less than a quarter of a mile before this location, you may also see motorcycle officers with radar hiding behind/under an overpass ramp from Ocean Avenue onto the northbound 710 freeway. This is at the bottom of the incline from the Gerald Desmond bridge and is a 45 into 40 MPH zone. Again, unfair enforcement on a major, but limited access roadway!
