Long Beach, California Speed Traps
Palo Verde Between Atherton and Sterns
Always motorcylce cops. This trap is set up in order to snag college students who are leaving shcool heading for the 405 south on ramp off of Sterns. So mainly look for this one on school days. Despite the tempation, do not try to get in the inside turn lane off of Atherton and speed in front of the other driver in the right lane in order to turn right onto Sterns. That is what the cops are there looking for.
7th Street (CA 22) just as you exit Interstate 605
Not very uncommon for city police to wait for traffic exiting a freeway-turned-city street. CA 22/Interstate 605 turns abruptly into 7th Street as you enter Long Beach. The speed will go from the standard freeway 65 mph to a "warning track" 55 mph to a steep drop to 35 mph as you enter the city. Past the first stop light on 7th Street in an apartment complex driveway is usually where the cop is parked.
Loynes Dr. Between PCH and Studebaker
Speed limit is 35mph. Most enforced side is from PCH to Studebaker(Eastbound). There is one driveway after the turn where motorcycle cops hide.
Atherton St. Between Belflower Blvd. and Clark Ave.
Mostly motorcycle cops will be here but occasionally cars will be there. The speed limit is 35mph here. They are not affraid of being seen but they will hide in the appartment housing driveways, and stop people in both directions. On one occasion I saw 2 motorcycle cops stop 5 people within 30 minutes.
Vincent Thomas Bridge
The hide behind the on ramps coming down both bridges. and nail you.
