Haven Street, just south of Jurupa Ave.

Ontario, CaliforniaAug 07, 20030 Comments

Far right lane, just south of the intersection – Ontario Police Department officer Skrupos (or Skropos) waits in an alcove in the Ontario Airport wall and waits for cars in the far-right lane crossing Jurupa next to a diesel. The lane ends as you cross the street, and the ‘lane ends merge left’ sign isn’t visible until you’re within about 200 feet. Basically, you have to either run your car off the road, sideswipe the diesel next to you, or speed up and pass him – there isn’t enough room to just stop. As soon as you pass the diesel, Officer Skrupos emerges from his hiding spot to present you with your ticket. I fought this ticket and won but he must have given out at least 35-40 speeding tickets that day to people who only sped in order to save their own lives.
