Papermill Road near Bridge

Newark, DelawareMar 19, 20080 Comments

When I came down Rt. 72 South (Papermill Rd.) heading towards Newark, the Newark cop was sitting across the street from Timothy’s Restaurant but a little up on the hill next to the big high voltage towers/fences. His patrol car was parked on an angle next to the fence and he was outside shooting his radar gun on top of a tripod. He would walk out onto the road and point for you to pull over if you are speeding. The speed limit there is 25 mph. You can’t see him right away but he can see your speed at the light right before the bridge when you are going south. By the time you slow down and see him at the bridge, it is too late. He can see you as you are coming down the hill at the light. 25 mph is too slow because as I was doing this speed limit, all the cars were almost touching each other or tail gaiting. He is only shooting one way so it is easy to walk out on the road. So if you are doing 25 mph and a car passes you going the other way at 45, it will look like you are speeding.

Very well done speed trap as you travel from RT 896 towards Otts chapel Rd. You will never see the place or device the readings are taken from but 1/2 mile down the road there are several cops waiting to pull people over. Ka band radar enforcement

Delaware Avenue near State Route 72

Police sit in front of Newark High School at noon and at night when the night school starts. Traffic comes around curve and usually going well beyond the posted speed limit of 25 mph, They will give you a ticket if you are going 26. Very aggressive.

State Route 896 near Cambridge Drive

Newark, DelawareOct 19, 20070 Comments

As you come in to Newark from Pennsylvania on 896, the speed limit drops to 35. Radar is set up in the right hand shoulder on the hill before you get to the Fairfield Shopping Center. Easy to keep rolling past 35 as it is a downhill grade. Tough to catch it without a detector as they are over the crest of the hill & will have you nailed before you see them.
