Waldo, Florida Speed Traps

Well I’m from SC just got home from a 7 month deployment was taking my daughter to Disney for her b day. I was going through Waldo around one am where the speed limit signs bounce up and down really fast from 65,55,45. The officer was behind local building with all of his lights off he pulled me over and issued me a ticket for 59 in a 45. He never checked any of my reregistration or insurance and he was very rude. Only reason he wrote me a ticket was because i am from SC and he knows I wouldn’t show up to court to fight it. The biggest thing is how can you be behind a building a couple hundred feet in front of me and know when I cross the 55 to 45 sign unless they have magic night vision. Thanks Waldo for welcoming me home and messing my 3-year olds b day up. Also I am 30 years old and have never had a ticket in my life

The speed limit is 55 then drops quickly to 45. It takes breaking to get down that fast in such a short time. Letting off the gas won’t slow you down quick enough.

I was coming around curve, when I noticed a tractor trailer stopped in right hand lane. I checked my mirrors, and when clear, moved around him. At the front of truck, i noticed a blinking light and slowed down. Cop was already out, and when the officer pulled me over he stated “‘ I guess you couldn’t see the light because of the truck” I agreed. Didn’t matter $444.00 dollar fine. It was a school zone. That could be a weeks pay for some folks.
And the police in this country wonder why we have NO respect for law and order.

AS i ROUNDED THE CURVE, A TRACTOR TRAILER WAS STOPPED IN THE RIGHT LANE. i LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR, AND MOVED INTO THE LEFT LANE.
PASSING THE TRUCK, I NOTICED A FLASHING LIGHT AT THE FRONT OF THE TRAILER, THE COP CAME OUT IMMEDIATELY, AND TICKETED US FOR SPEEDING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE. THE FIRST THING OUT OF HIS MOUTH WAS, I GUESS YOU COULDN’T SEE THE FLASHING LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE TRACTOR, BUT THEN PROCEEDED TO GO BACK TO HIS CAR AND ISSUE A 444.00 TICKET. AVOID THIS TOWN. I WAS GOING TO FLORIDA TO A FAMILY PARTY AND TO BUY SOME PROPERTY. THIS CHANGED MY MIND. I’LL MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

3miles north before you enter Waldo there is a large billboard warning that Waldo is a speed trap. Heading south the speed limit signs rapidly go from 55mph, to 45mph, and 35mph and the reverse as you leave the main business area. You have to be very careful to anticipate the signs as the police will ticket anyone going even slightly over the limits. I once had my radar detector on and could see no police in sight until I passed an entrance to a field where a cruiser would nver been seen until it was too late. This town is probably the worst speed trap in Florida. I know a number of people that have been given tickets that were only slightly over the limit. Be very careful.
