Cordele, Georgia Speed Traps
I was pulled over and cited for speeding 74 in a 70. Despite going slower than the flow of traffic, I was pulled over and accused of racing another vehicle – a vehicle that I didn’t even remember existing when the officer mentioned it. The officer was extremely aggressive towards me. I have NEVER had a speeding ticket and always use my signals and stay mindful of the speed limit and how fast traffic near me is travelling.
During my trip on that day, I witnessed no fewer than 10 active traffic stops within the same short stretch of highway. It is clear that Crisp County GA is still farming revenue by harassing drivers who are travelling safely.
Myself and my peers travel all over the country and regularly spend thousands of dollars at hotels and local businesses. The ticket, which cost me just shy of $300, has now cost the state of Georgia tens of thousands of dollars in lost revenue – because myself and my club members will no longer be holding or attending events in the state, nor spending money at any of its businesses.
Passed thru the area approaching and beyond the Cordele Ga exits off of I-75 today and observed 4 local police cars working the area giving out tickets on I-75. They were using ka band radar – pulled off for gas about 20 miles past Cordele exits and there was another local cop using laser hiding on the side of the entrance ramp. The area approaching Cordele is full of phony work zones (signage and some orange barrels but no work or workers observed). This area of I-75 was upgraded years ago and the work has long been finished but the “work zones” with increased penalties continue to exist. Cordele cops have no business (other than revenue enhancement) for working the interstate.
We left the Country Inn hotel shortly before 9am. We were driving on the freeway less than 5 miles when we were pulled over. There were 3 adults (1 elderly) and 2 kids in the car. We weren’t in any rush! Driving 8 hours to Miami, Fl to take a cruise the next afternoon. Sheriff pulled us over claiming that my husband was driving 87mph. We absolutely were not driving almost 90mph with no where to go except on vacation the next day. They stole money from my family with a bogus speeding ticket!
This is 3 miles south of Cordelia, or 10 minutes north of Ashburn. A down-slope, followed by bridge, with diamond type interchange, where Rockhouse Rd goes over the interstate I-75. Please notice double choices, either parked under bridge, or launch from northbound on-ramp. Speed limit 70 mph.
Deputies line up and sit on the bridge overlooking I-75. There are about 10 of them. They are violating the law by not being visible. They clock you then run down the ramp onto I-75 impeding traffic and almost causing wrecks.
