Elgin, Illinois Speed Traps
Shales/Rohrson Rd Parkway near Bode Road
Hilly road between Rt.20 all the way to Bode road. The speed limit is 30 MPH which is hard to maintain unless your foot is on the brakes. Police hide all over and work in teams.
Russell Road near Muirhead Drive
Squad sits between Cornerstones old church and dumpster so is well hidden from view. Only see it 9pm-5am. Elgin recently reduced speed limits on many roads many of which are NOT posted. Kane Co. is reaping benifits from this. I was pulled over going 48 in a 45 but ticketed for 78. Simple math prevailed in the courtroom. Cop harrassed me for 5 weeks after acquittal, often sitting at my driveway to follow me in the morning to the edge of his jurisdiction.
State Highway Randall road near I-90 Expressway
Police vehicles are seen off of Randall Road right after Jimmy’s Charhouse heading North in a church parking lot. There is a small wooden privacy fence that they hide next to in the parking lot. You cant see them until you pass the fence, then its too late. They will sit there with there lighs off at night. They have also been known to use planes to get rader during rush hour(4 to 7PM). The speed limit there is 45 MPH.
E Middle Street near S Gilbert Street
Marked police vehicles sit in lot at corner of E Middle St & Gilberts. Radar aimed at those folks traveling eastbound on Middle street. Not there on a daily basis, but have seen them there a few times per week. Speed limit is only 25
Berner Road near Summit Street
Berner Road is 25 miles an hour (should be 30-35 based on other similar thoroughfares). Police will park in the parking lot for the Elgin Church of the Nazarene and trap motorists driving South on Berner to Summit (Route 58). I’m a church member and see this at least twice a month (when you’re only there 2 days a week, that’s a lot of sightings!)
