Ardmore Avenue near North Avenue

Villa Park, IllinoisMar 25, 20060 Comments

When going over the tracks on Ardmore, Southbound from North Avenue (Illinois Rt 64), look out for the squad cars parked at the bottom of the hill. They often park alongside the other cars there, and will nab you for going 29 in a 25. I live a few blocks away, and see the police there day and night, pulling people over. They are sometimes also on the north side of bridge, parked at the bottom to nab the northbound drivers.

Kingery Hwy (Route 83) about 1 mi west of St Charles Rd

This location tends to have an unmarked Ford Crown Vic sitting at a very short access road at the Waste Treatment Facility. During the time that I lived in this area they tend to sit there during early morning/evening hours and they love to get the people that race northbound on Route 83 from the light at Walmart to St Charles Rd.

Rt 83 and St. Charles Road

Both north- and south-bound Rt. 83 about 1/8 mile south of St. Charles Rd, Villa Park/Elmhurst area. Typically an unmarked (black) police car radaring in this 45mph zone. The speed at this point changes from 55 to 45. Any more than 5mph over, and you’re likely to get nailed. Also, I have seen (at least twice) police waiting on a bike-path bridge above Rt. 83 with radar. They nail you, then radio your info to a squad sitting a couple hundred feet down the road where you cannot see normally see them.

Interstate 355

Villa Park, IllinoisSep 01, 20001 Comments

Going northbound on 355. Right after the Roosevelt road exit. A helicopter notes your speed and relays it to several cops lined up on the side of the highway. They nab you right before you hit the North Avenue exit. It becomes really apparent that there are cops ahead even 1/2 a mile before you get there, but slow down and try as you might – they know who they are after. Pretty shrewd way of enforcement since the speed limit is 55 mph and majority of the driving population on that road drives safely at or above 70 mph. Speeding in a pack becomes practically inefficent here as the helicopter just randomly chooses the fastest of a pack or (in my opinion, and experience) the most expensive car.
