695 all parts, 83 north of 695

Baltimore, MarylandJun 13, 20031 Comments

massive quantity of common radar traps late at nite in all parts of 695, especially in northwest part. 83 north of 695 – they were doing that stupid maryland thing were the cruiser is doing exactly 65 and creating an irritating "moving traffic jam" at one o’clock in the morning! Obvious revenue generation and nothing to do with safety. Traffic started moving naturally again at the pa. border. maryland is so sad and stupid.

White Marsh Blvd (Rt. 43) East just prior to Rt. 40

Baltimore, MarylandApr 10, 20030 Comments

This trap should be well-known to anyone that commutes using Rt. 43 every day. State Troopers will set up (usually 2-3) in the median, just after the I-95 exits, and just prior to the Rt. 40 ramp… usually in the afternoon during the rush, but I’ve seen them at other times as well. The road curves around to the right, and you will not see the cops until they have you in their sights. They will usually have their trunks up, hiding the car’s markings and seem to always use laser. The speed limit is only 50mph here, but many people still think it is 55. You’ll usually get stopped if you’re doing 65 and above. Beware – the Troopers are really cracking down on this location and I see them there at least once a week.

Corner of Bellona Ave and Rolandvue Ave

As you come around a blind corner the cop sits on the left near a fence. Posted speed is 30 mph but safe can be up to 45mph as the road is fairly staight after the blind corner.

I-695 Beltway between Exits 22 & 23 — Inner & Outer Loops!

Baltimore, MarylandJan 01, 20030 Comments

They usually set-up 2 or 3 cars on the very wide shoulder of the indside lane against the barrier as you come around a corner for a straight away. Worse yet, is that the grade of the road is not the same for opposing traffic, so they can "hide" below the wall and opposing traffic can not see them — therefore, they can not warn oncoming traffic. But the WORST thing is that they sit with their trunks up so that STATE TROOPER can not be read on the trunk deck, nor can the light bar on the roof be seen. In contrast, they wear dayglow orange vests so they are quite visible when they step out (into oncoming traffic at > 55mph) to flag you over. Makes sense to me… BE CAREFUL

I-95 North past White Marsh entering Harford County

Baltimore, MarylandDec 25, 20020 Comments

Signs claim speed is enforced by aircraft but have never seen anyone pulled over for it. Rarely are police on I-95 North because they would have such a hard time pulling people over who are going 90mph and the high volume of traffic. Just be advised for aircraft in the marked areas by yellow signs
