Robert Fulton Dr/Lee DeForest Dr
The posted speed on Robert Fulton Drive is 35 MPH, but it is a divided highway in some stretches, and it does not run through any residential areas. The Howard County police like to set up in this area sometime between the morning and evening rush hours. With its unreasonably low speed limit, combined with the overzealous fundraising tactics of the Howard County Police Department, you’re bound to get caught.
Rt. 100 under the Rt. 103 bridge
Usually trapping east-bound traffic coming from Columbia, there will be anywhere from 1 to 3 cops pulling cars over under the bridge they come around a left curve. Limit is 55mph, but with the 3-lane highway it’s easy to go 65 or more. If there are no cops under the bridge, wait until you go around a right turn before hitting the gas again…they are sometimes in the median a 1/4 mile afterwards.
Columbia Road in Between 175 and 108
The cops sit at the bottom of the hill on Columbia Road and catch people rounding the bend coming from Rt 108. I have been pulled over at this spot before, but luckily the Howard County policewoman just gave me a verbal warning, even with my radar detector on my dash. At the time she was using K-band.
