High Tor Hill Road near Drystraw Drive

Columbia, MarylandOct 20, 20070 Comments

Howard County PD can either be parked on High Tor Hill north of Drystraw or on Drystraw facing High Tor. They are there mostly to catch people running the stop sign at High Tor & Drystraw, but will write up speeders as well.

High Tor Hill Road near Eaglebeak Road

Columbia, MarylandOct 20, 20070 Comments

Howard County PD sits on Eaglebeak facing High Tor. If you are going south on High Tor (from Phelps Luck toward Tamar) and you go over the hill and are speeding, you won’t see them until it’s too late. They are very polite, but firm – you will get a ticket!

On Oakland Mills Road between Dobbin and Old Montgomery, look out for hidden cruisers around just about any corner. Sunday mornings, weekday mornings, and late at night, especially.

State Route 100 near State Route 103

Columbia, MarylandAug 09, 20070 Comments

Rt. 100 is a very active speed trap especially east bound. Howard County Police often use the site just under the Rt. 103 overpass to set up the trap and catch motorists as they come off of a hill. It will typically involve several cruisers/officers parked to the left of the fast lane under the overpass. One officer will use the radar, another will flag motorists to stop and a third will write the ticket. If you get a ticket however go to court as all three officers will need to be present to establish a case. My case was dismissed because only one of the officers showed up to court.
