Sterling Heights, Michigan Speed Traps

Westbound M59 frontage road between Mound Road and Utica Road. The speed limit is reduced by 10 mph after crossing Mound Road even though it is three lane one way traffic. There are several manufacturing facilities along this road and the Sterling Heights Police sit in the driveways partially obscured by landscaping. It is often too late when you see them. I have seen them there during AM and PM rush hour traffic.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a cop sitting between 13-14 mile on Mound Rd. The speed limit drops from 45-35 and cops usually sit in a number of driveways just waiting for you to come by. Watch out for that church, they like to sit in there. Pay even more attention in the spring and summer months not a day goes by where I don’t either see a motorcycle cop sitting and waiting, or see a motorcycle cop already handing a ticket out. This may be warren but I thought i would post it on S.H. to get the word out.

On the SE corner of 18 Mile and Van Dyke next to the Standard Federal Bank, an unmarked black cop car often sits running waiting to catch speeders. He is usually there between 5 and 7 AM.

1 Block North of 16 Mile Road on Mound Road at Wall Street, there is a large parking lot for a business and the sometimes marked or unmarked cop will sit there mostly during lunch times, I’ve seen him as early as 11:00 and as late as 2:00 p.m. He can hide pretty well because there are some bushes there. Boy he is quick and usually has you pulled over before you hit the Ford Plant driveway.
