Sterling Heights, Michigan Speed Traps

Officers driving dark unmarked cars hide in parking spaces in several of the unoccupied buildings along the east side of Van Dyke at night when traffic is lower. Every night I see at least two to three cops looking for speeders between 15 to 17 1/2 Mile.

There is a hospital on the corner of Schoenherr and 16 Mile Road sitting in the parking lot waiting for people to either speed or watch people not come to a complete stop at that stop sign merging from Schoenherr to 16 mile road.

Two to three unmarked or slightly marked cars sit in the driveway just east of Van Dyke looking to see if you can not make it through the traffic light for east bound 15 mile road before it turns red.

On the stretch of M-59 past Dequindre heading east where it becomes a freeway, the police strictly enforce the 55 MPH speed limit. They usually park on an overpass, and point the gun down on traffic. I have seen this all times of the day, and have seen many people pulled over.

During school days one or two black semi-marked police cars will sit on either end of the school zone (one in the power lines on the east end and the other in the church lot on the west side). I constantly see them pulling people over and writing tickets.
