Cleveland Hts. Blvd. at Woodridge Rd.

Cleveland Heights, OhioMar 01, 20020 Comments

BEWARE…a Cleveland Heights cop will often sit in his/her cruiser on Tremont Road, nailing people flying down the Cleveland Heights Blvd. hill, and then double-whammy them for not stopping at the stop sign at Woodridge. I grew up on this street, and I’d sit in the front yard watching people get pulled over, one after the other, all evening long. Typical from the People’s Republic of Cleveland Heights.

Mayfield Road in front of Motorcars Toyota/Honda

Police will park on the sidewalk or in the car dealership driveways and nail people in both directions.

On Cedar between the Cedar/Fairmount and the huge Cedar Hill intersection

Cleveland Heights, OhioMay 01, 20010 Comments

The hill is 35, but once you get to the Nighttown/Bankone section of Cedar, it immediately turns to 25 until you get past Fairmount. It’s 1000 feet of pure radar action most days. They often park an empty squad car in front of the Fifth/Third bank to discourage speeders. Thankfully in the past few years they’ve clarified the speed reduction coming up Cedar from the hill by posting signs to the effect. The police also like to park in the tire store parking lot.. often 2 or 3 at a time. They will catch speeders from BOTH directions.

Bellfield Ave.

It’s a 25 MPH residential street… that also makes for an essential cutover to get off of Cedar! Even though I *live* on the street, sometimes the enforcement is downright crazy. I once got a ticket on the cutover between Bellfield and the other street to the East. They would have two police tag you with radar, pull you over to the side street, and then line all of the violaters (which was almost everyone travelling on the street) and issue them tickets in order. It is insane. Heck, they’ve even been known to pull over people in their own DRIVEWAYS on Bellfield to issue them a ticket… just to have them pull up a few more feet into the garage. Tickets are $80 and up!

North park near Fairfax between Coventry and North Woodland

Cleveland Heights, OhioMay 01, 20010 Comments

Another Cleveland Heights favorite. The street itself is 35, but the lights are timed in such a way that you will need to go 40 to 45 to make it through the North Woodland light and through Coventry. What also doesn’t help is that it’s a four lane straight-away, which often leads to a little lead footing. However, the officers usually hide on Fairfax, get you with the radar gun, and pull you over before you reach Coventry. Not fun, but this one is fairly legitimate. Not enforced that much anymore it seems.
