This trap is located just beyond where mayfield road intersects superior, They run this trap during the mid-day, almost everyday right out of the police station parking lot, fairly visible; But since the trap is ran out of the police station parking lot many mistake it for a parked cruiser. Also in the evening, around 7pm or so. a group of crusisers run this trap @ the same location.

North Park Boulevard near Coventry & South Park Road

Cleveland Heights, OhioJul 09, 20040 Comments

North Park was empty during mid-day. On my way to work, I floored it until i got to a red light where i waited for it to turn green. Once the light turned green I saw a cop behind me with the lights on. 73 in a 35. I never even saw him. Still cant determine where he was hiding. Frequently see cars pulled over in this area, especially during rush-hour.

Edgehill Road

Cleveland Heights, OhioJul 06, 20040 Comments

This is a 4 way intersection. The police like to park on Overlook Rd., hidden out of view of drivers on Edgehill Rd., and shoot their radar down Edgehill, looking for anything over 25 mph. They tend to get out of the car and shoot on foot, then hand signal a car to pull over. They also look for cars going through any of the stop signs at this location.

Coventry Road

Cleveland Heights, OhioMay 09, 20040 Comments

At the bend in the road there is a parking lot where one, often two cruisers wait to pounce. Speed changes half way thru the road, from 35 to 25mph and the fuzz is there to catch you. Many people take coventry as a shortcut around the Superior Ave/Mayfield Rd traffic light and are in a hurry, making easy targets. WATCH YOURSELF!

Cemetery just west of coventry on Mayfield Rd

Anyone who lives in Cleveland knows that the Cleveland Heights Police are notorious for issuing speeding tickets. A recent newspaper article states that their revenue off moving violations is highest in Ohio. The next closest city only earns 50% of the revenue that Cleveland Heights makes.

In addition, most everyone around Cleveland knows that Mayfield road is nothing but a speed trap with speed limit signs going from 25 to 35 and back down within a short number of blocks.

As for my story. The speed trap is at Mayfield & Coventry and one officer with the radar gun was parked approximately 2/10ths of a mile west of Coventry in a cemetery entrance. The other officer was parked across the street in an alley.

I was at the Stop light at Cedar & Mayfield. This portion of the road WAS 25 mph. There is a 35 mph sign in front of the cemetery. I drove up to speed after the light turned green and was given a ticket for going 35 in a 25 mph zone.

Basically be careful on Mayfield road in Cleveland Heights, but be aware of this speed trap just west of Conventry.

Good luck!
