W. Burnside Street near Bridge Onramp

Portland, OregonMar 06, 20051 Comments

2 motorcycles w/ LIDAR. They sit at the base of the 35MPH sign, 200′ east of the bridge entrance. Eastbound traffic is in a 25MPH zone until that sign.

Interstate 5 Northbound near Terwilliger curves

Motorcycle cop will sit just out of sight as you start the decent down Terwilliger curves. This is near the end of the "Construction Zone" where there is not much going on that I can tell. It seems as if they extended the construction zone down there just for the trap. I fail to understand why inside the city of Portland I5 goes from 65mph to 50mph! 50mph on an Interstate come on.

Interstate 5 Northbound near State Highway 30

Watch for a motorcycle cop sitting on the last or 2nd-to-last onramp before the fork between the bridge and Hwy 30 and the Freemont bridge. He is sitting out of sight on the onramp shooting people with a laser. People sometimes must speed up to find a hole in traffic to merge from the left lane to stay on I5 instead of going down Hwy 30. I see people pulled over there at all hours of the day. I was pulled over there at 11:00pm. Major cash cow for people trying to keep Northbound on I5 before the Freemont bridge.

City Motorcycle Cop with Laser

Morrison Bridge, Eastbound Boulevard near Entry ramp from I-5 Southbound

This photoradar trap (redundant phrase, isn’t it?) is an unmarked van, sometimes blue parked in the far right breakdown lane, Eastbound on the Morrison Bridge, just after the exit to 84East, but just before the traffic enters from I-5 South. The sneaky cops pose as a broken-down dirty blue van, unmarked BTW – so look out. They will photo anyone over the last posted speed, which I believe is 35 MPH. It only takes a 1 MPH violation, as I discovered. If you are nailed, please fight it. If everyone appeared in court and fought them, the money machine would grind to a halt.
