Hwy 51 going through Millington. Redight cameras.

Millington, TennesseeJul 08, 20110 Comments

I got one of those photo in the mail a few weeks ago. Showing my truck behind the line. Then in the intersection with the light red. I would have remembered it if I had a close call like that, I think.
Four days later my wife gets one in the mail showing her vehicle. My wife drives like an 80 year old woman with 20/20 vision. She has stopped part way into an intersection to avoid running a YELLOW light.
I’m not saying these photos are doctored, but…………………………..

US 51 North

Millington, TennesseeFeb 19, 20110 Comments

The entire US 51 North is a speed trap enforced by MPD and Shelby County Sheriff. There are three traffic light cameras, and the PD uses a laser type radar that they tend to hide in areas when the speeds change from 55 mph to 40 mph on a five lane road near TN 385. The traffic cameras flash appear to flash randomly when a car barely enters the intersection, as well as when no car has entered them. In addition, the PD have recently employed a non-marked white suv, with dark tinted windows as a mobile speed trap in Millington and the only time you will know you’ve been tagged is when the ticket arrives in your mailbox. I am not sure if they are tagging people for other violations, but wouldn’t rule it out. Best suggestion is to drive in the right lane 2-3mph below the posted limit, let the people pass you, and then resume the posted speed north of the city after First Baptist Church. Good luck trying to find any information about the make & model of the speed detection devices, calibration logs and etc from the MPD or city council-they won’t release the info and you’re better off just paying the fine.

New Red Light Cameras NOW In Use along HWY 51 Millington!!!!

Millington, TennesseeDec 17, 20100 Comments

Millington PD are now using red light cameras at the intersection of HWY 51 & Babe Howard BLVD, HWY 51 & Navy Road, HWY 51 & Easley Street, HWY 51 & Cuba-Millington. Coming very soon…HWY 51 & Wilkinsville (Wal-Mart area).
There are other red light cameras slated for almost all traffic lights in and around Millington.
You will be ticketed if you are in the intersection when the light is yellow. Just as you’ll get one for a red light too.
I have seen people slow down coming to a green light, then flooring it through the light from a fear of it turning yellow and getting a $75 or more ticket in the mail.
This little town is now becoming the perfect example of a "Traffic Laws are Photo Enforced."

Highway 51 South, just South of Hiway 385 intersection

Millington, TennesseeDec 07, 20102 Comments

Millington PD sit in black sided cars in the dark, in the median strip shooting north. As you come off the light at 385, the speed limit is 40, then 500 feet later is 45 then 500 feet after that is 55 mph. From where they sit, they are shooting downhill at approaching traffic. They will ticket at 6 mph over the posted limit of 40 mph. No questions asked, no explanation given. Judge won’t allow any lee-way. There are NO city limits signs going either direction. If you’re new to town, watch out.

Babe Howard Blvd.

Millington, TennesseeNov 27, 20100 Comments

When you turn west on Babe Howard the Millington Police sit parked back into the gates of the USA baseball field and the speed limit is 20 mph as you turn off Highway 51 into this NEAR subdivision area. It takes at least 30 mph to accelerate through the intersection especially turning left. If your are approaching North on US 51 (from South Millington to this turn lane), the green arrow is extremely fast, for you to turn left, or you have to turn left through traffic on green and this traffic moves very quickly, approximately 50 MPH to going through this intersection.
Then as soon as you turn in, it is only a distance of
