Millington, Tennessee Speed Traps
US Highway near Tipton County Line
From the Tipton County line down to the Wal-Mart at Wilkinsville Road, the speed has been reduced from 60 mph to an unrealistic 45. Millington Police (and only Millington Police) are hammering drivers all day for going the prevailing speed of traffic – 55. They will set up anywhere along the road, but seem to be particuarly fond of the field across from the new Ford Dealership. And don’t even think about trying to talk your way out of a ticket.
West Union Road near Bass Road
Motorcycle county officers will hide behind embankment, jump out into roadway and aim radar gun at oncoming motorist. With the sun at the officer’s back, the motorist cannot see who is trying to stop them (no blue lights or vehicles are visible). Many of the motorist’s natural reaction is to speed up to get away from the situation, and when the person exceeds the speed limit, they are pulled over and issued a citation. Very scary, in this most high carjacking arera.
Armour Road at Fullerton (between Navy and Arlington – Millington Road)
Frequently, Shelby County Sheriff Motorcycle Deputies hide on Fullerton Road early in the morning at the intersection with Armour. The speed limit drops from 45 to 35 mph in this residential area with plenty of warning (Speed Zone Ahead sign is obscured by bushes). Sometimes two officers are involved, both on cycles.
