Houston, Texas Speed Traps
W.W. Thorne Drive
The street is about 2 or so mile, and has 2 lanes on each side (not including the turn lanes). The speed limit is 30mph and half of it goes down to 20 during school hours. There is a neighborhood nearby, nut there is no pedestrian activity which makes the 30mph speed limit useless. At any time there may be either one or 2 police vehicles one being a crown victoria, the other a suburban type car which will pull cars going over the limit.
Clinton Overpass at 610 Loop East
Truck Enforment Crew sits on Clinton Overpass at 610 Loop East. (just pass the big Ship channel Bridge)He hits you with radar as you come under him and pass the Clinton overpass. He then comes up from behind you about mile down the road from out of nowhere. Its really Infuriating !!
entire city
In an attempt to force people to use mass transit, the TNRCC has forced the highway department to lower the speed limit on all roads to 55 MPH. At the same time the City of Houston has doubled the fines. The police are sitting up traps with 7 or more units. Police have been seen on TV boasting about writing 40 tickets an hour.

I-610 West Southbound Frontage at Fournace
This is not a speed trap per se. The intersection is the location of dense construction from renovation of I-610 Southbound. Southbound traffic north of the intersection has two lanes available. Southbound traffic south of the intersection has one lane available. The left-hand lane north of the intersection must turn leFort Only the right-hand lane can proceed straight through the intersection. The City of Bellaire police are enforcing this turn strictly. The frontage road has six signs indicating left turn only, but the congestion and poor sign placement make observing them difficult. The fine for failure to obey the signs is $126.00. Proceed through the intersection with extreme caution. This construction zone should be effective through September 2002.
