Temple, Texas Speed Traps
Interstate 35 north and south near Exit Number 297
three motor cycle cops with support cruiser
363 Loop near 31st Street
They hide behind the trees (just after the exit) just past King’s Daughters Hospital. They usually are in groups of 2 or more. The speed limit here goes down to 30 mph just after you exit off the loop.
Old 95/Little River Road near 363 Loop
During anytime of a given day you will find a motorcycle cop sitting on the intersecting street or in the brush close to the fence line just waiting. I have even seen 2 working the same street at the same time. When you come off Loop 363 onto Old 95 the speed limit is set at 40MPH, just a short distance up it turns into 60 MPH. I have even seen these officers pulled behind an abandoned vehicle with their lights on, leaning against their motorcycles; baiting traffic. Try traveling from the Little River area at 60MPH and drop to 35MPH (on the curve) then to 40 in a split second. Watch out !
south 31 Street near State Highway 93
north bound from highway 93 on 31 st street speed limit is 50 mph about 400 feet speed limit changes to 45 mph a sign is undercover of large trees and is hard to see,Former police chief said that was a money makeing location and would not change the speed limit,or word to that effect.
North 31st Street near Temple High School
North of Adams on 31st street as you come down a hill towards the high school a city cop will be clocking (on light traffic days ecspecially) at the bottom of the hill. This is a 4 lane road that on the weekends may have one car on it at any given time. Watch out coming down the hill. I have watched my speed come up 5 to 10 miles an hour without even touching the gas. The speed limit is posted at 30, which may be fine for when school is going, but needs to be 40 to 50 on the weekends.
I sat at the donut shop one sunday morning and watched the cop write 5 tickets in about an hour.
Ride your brakes going down the hill!
That cop is going for a record or a bonus or something.
