An officer shows up from out of the blue and claims to have clocked you at 20 miles over, yet my radar detector never sounded, nor did we see him.
They specialize in out of state vehicles knowing that you will pay the fine to reduce the miles over, to avoid coming back to their traffic court.
If you do, the mayor is the judge, and you do not stand a chance to win, and your $125 fine will be doubled plus court costs.
A real income producer for this little burg!
On US 60 (4-lane) and thru town on WV 16.
This speedtrap is a money maker for the town. They have two new officers, one from Summersville, WV, and the other from Fayetteville, WV who were fired from their jobs in those cities and were employed by Gauley Bridge. I have talked to the mayor of GB and he says something will be done about it, but don’t count on it as it brings in too much money. They average over 100 tickets a day I have been told.
