HPD sets up on the overlook near the crest on Monte Sano on 431 pointing south to radar northbound traffic.
Carl T. Jones Drive SE Drive near Garth Road Road
City Police park in the median across from the entrance to Somerby Retirement Community and shoot SE down Carl T. Jones. Vehicles coming over the bridge can’t see the Police car until it’s too late.
South Memorial Parkway near Jones Valley Drive
Officers will park shooting radar at North bound traffic just past Golf Rd overpass and are not visible until motorist has crested the overpass.
US Highway 72 E near East Side of Chapman Mountain
HPD is usually sitting in the median generating revenue from the eastbound traffic. The speed limit coming from the end of the interstate controlled access goes from 60 mph down to 50 mph in the eastbound lanes.
HPD will also hide from the westbound traffic in the clearing that is blocked by the trees on the righthand side near the crest of the mountain. The speed limit is down to 45 mph for the westbound traffic when climbing the mountain.
