Tucson, Arizona Speed Traps
Campbell Road near E. 3rd Street
There are usually two to three motorcycle cops who sit there for an hour to three hours on any given day, a little north of the UofA swimming pool. I have seen up to five cops at one time all sitting on that corner. The speed limit is 35 in this area. Be careful too, if you pull onto third street heading east onto the campus… The speed limit is only 15 mph and I have seen bikers get stopped for speeding in that area.
Alvernon Street near Stationmaster Road
Motorcycle Cop sits at Stationmaster (just South of Ajo) and tags people going North on Alvernon, the stretch of road from Irvington to Ajo is a long one with no lights or intersections and a posted speed limit of 45. Be careful! My fiance and I have both been targeted here. Usually happens morning to mid-afternoon.
Tucson Boulevard near Elvira Road
This area is just prior to the entrance road to Tucson Intl Airport. The patrol car is concealed in one of the westside hotel parking lots. Traffic in this area is generally headed to an off airport parking lot or to the terminal itself. The parking lot shuttle driver says the patrol car is there almost everyday.
Sandario Rd at Najo
County Sheriff apparently waits to pounce on anyone passing by. Enforcement is pretty heavy on all of the through roads in this area late at night.
Sandario Rd. is a 50 mph road with several patches of 40 mph, and Najo Rd. is just inside one of those ridiculous 40 zones. They get you if you fail to slow down. It is probably best to avoid this road late at night unless you intend to go exactly by the speed limit.
Broadway/ East bound to 1-10
Broadway East bound from Campbell to I-10 in the morning 2 motorcycle cops busting anyone doing 10 over 30mph speed limit.
