Kolb Road between Speedway and Tanque Verde

Tucson, ArizonaJul 08, 20020 Comments

Going north on Kolb after passing Speedway, there is a small office complex on the right side of the road with a sign that says "If you worked here you’d be home by now." There are motorcycle cops here a lot of the time. I’ve seen as many as five at one time waiting for an unsuspecting motorist.

Motorcycle Cop Heaven – There is a slight dip on Grant Road before you get to Kolb. After the dip, going east, on the right side there is an entrance to a small community. The cops sit there (almost always at night, due to the lack of street lights and low visibility) and tag people. This often means you pull into the Circle K at Grant/Kolb and get your ticket. This just started about the 15th of May, 2002. Don’t know how long it will continue.

Particularly southbound from Grant around the first right hand corner, always a motorcycle cop, sometimes 2.

Just west of the Barraza-Aviation highway entrance, the road curves under a railroad bridge, where the 6 lane stretch drops to 25 mph in both directions. It’s very easy for even the most prudent of drivers to go 35 or 40, and the police do enforce the 25 limit.
