Vancouver, British Columbia Speed Traps
UBC-Marine Drive ( east – west bound)
Cops (UBC RCMP) sit in their car with LASER gun pointing at traffic, hiding in the darkness, since not much street lights are in that area, and catch you if you go higher than 80 KM. I saw many cars got towed for excessive speeding or got tickets specially at night after 10 PM. Watch out for these RCMPs waiting for you!
Southbound Oak St Bridge, Highway 99
Have seen Police occasionally posted across the bridge (left side), just as Highway 99 is beginning. Most people seem to drive 80km/hr over the bridge when it’s 50km/hr so they usually get one person per light I’d imagine.
Eastbound Stewardson way, east of the Queensborough bridge
Eastbound Stewardson way after the Queensborough interchange is a downhill slope. Occasionally Police station themselves at the bottom of the hill. It’s pretty easy to hit 80km/hr since you just come off the highway as well. They’re recently put up lighted speed signs.
Granville at 53rd, Southbound
I drive this route daily and there are traps here at least once a week. They hide in the church parking lot.
Broadway westboud between Boundary and Rupert
I rarely drive my car to work, but in the last month I have seen cops there stopping the cars in the morning rush hour. This is very tempting spot to put your foot and go above the crazy low 50 km/h, because you are just going from two lanes into three and the curb lane is opened for all traffic. The surprise may await you around the bend as you climb that little hill.
