Irvine, California Speed Traps
Campus Drive near Bridge Road
A motorcycle cop or two will wait at one of the corners of the Bridge & Campus intersection and pull over drivers who run the red or don’t fully stop pulling up to the red.
Jamboree Road
Afterwork bw 4-6 there are 3 motorcylce cops on each corner waiting for you…Watch out.
State Route 133 North near Just past 5 North on-ramp
Coming around the right hand sweeper just after entering the 133 North from the 5 North, a CHP cruiser hides behind bushes on the right hand side of the road. I was stopped doing 75, was accused of doing 85, and was written up for 80. I am assuming it was either visual estimation or Ka based radar (I didn’t have my Valentine 1). I was the only car on the road at the time (11am Sunday) however I have noticed an officer hiding here more than once at other times of the day.
Muirlands Street near Aspan Street
I haven’t been a victim of this particular speed trap, but everyday around 1:00pm there is someone pulled over in the same spot. There is usually a cop on a bike hiding in the entrance of the mobile home community where Aspan dead-ends to Muirlands.
Harvard Street near Walnut Road
A particular speedtrap that I’ve been an unfortunate part of lies on Harvard, between Walnut and Irvine Center Drive. This area, late at night, is very poorly lit, and police have been known to hide off to the shoulder on the east side of the railroad tracks as well as in the parking lot of the park. The officer that pulled me over was in the shadows along the road. There is often construction going on (has been for past year or so) and that also helps them blend in well.
