Any Posted School Zone

I don’t know how many of these photo radar vans Denver has, but this is the second time I’ve received one of these tickets. Denver seems to love to point the vans at eastbound traffic, when the sun is shining directly into the windshield, and snap your picture doing 30(the normal speed limit) in the 20 mph school zone that you never saw because the sun made little silhouettes of the school zone signs. If Denver were truly serious about slowing traffic in the school zones, I can think of much more effective means(how about the flashing yellows that the other metro county areas use). And I can see no effective way to avoid future snapshots, short of driving 20 mph everywhere in Denver between 7 and 9 am.

Northbound Monaco at approx. 4th ave

Denver, ColoradoAug 16, 20030 Comments

In the section of Monaco between 6th ave and 1st ave, the road gets very narrow for 4 lanes. and thus the speed limit is reduced from 35 to 30. Many people fly down monaco going northbound by crestmoor park not noticing how fast they are going usually in the upper 40’s. The radar van is commonly parked on the east side of the street nailing cars heading northbound. I have been hit a few times especially at night though I have seen it set up earlier, and have gotten lucky that I was never sent a ticket.

Monaco just south of hampden

Cops love to patrol this school zone through the curves just before monaco turns in to Eastmoor. Periodically they set up radar here and wave people over to the side.

S. Quebec between Florida and Mississippi

White unmarked minivan with photo radar. Can be identified by large, circular light housing located on the left side rear of the vehicle. Have seen both a Dodge make and a GM make of minivan. Like to park behind vehicles parked in front of the apartment complex on the west side of S. Quebec.
