Parker, Colorado Speed Traps
Motsenbocker Road near Main Street
Douglas County Sheriffs hide with a radar gun in the dip by the RV Storage Park and pull cars over one after the other. Speed limit is 30 mph in this non-residential area but you can get a ticket for going a very safe flow-of-traffic speed of 35 or 40 mph.
Dransfeld Road near Lowes
Love to camp out on the parking lot, east side of the road watching for northbound traffic as it crests the small hill just south of Lowes.
Jordan Road near Main Street
South of Main Street on Jordan Road next to Newlin Meadows development. Radar trap for cars travelling Northbound. Posted Speed limit is 40 mph.
Chambers Road near Interstate E470
Douglas Co. sheriff deputy sits on Chambers Road in the tall weeds right next to the road, just south of E-470, during the mornings. This is a brand-new four-lane divided thoroughfare through a lightly developed area, with very light traffic day or night. They also like to sit in the condo complex that sits (conveniently) at the bottom of a pretty steep hill right before you enter Arapahoe County, and use two or more motorcycle officers. Speed limit is set at 45 but given the traffic conditions, 50-55 is completely safe. At least the guy was nice enough to just flash his lights at me when I was doing 52.
Main Street near Parker/Dransfeld Road
A four-lane split median high traffic thoroughfare, Main Street is posted 40 from Jordan Rd to Dransfeld Rd, then drops to 25 in the 1/4 mile between Dransfeld and Parker Rd. A small sign notes "Safety Zone" on the 25 MPH post EB immediately across the Dransfeld (40 zone)intersection and both can be missed, particularly when moving; 5 mph above the limit is costly. Parker PD parks in the commercial areas on both sides of Main. Safety zones double the fine and Parker has the "Victim Fund" racket as an additional revenue raiser–1/3 of the fine.
