Tampa, Florida Speed Traps
Bruce B. Downs Avenue near Westbound lane behind a sign for a church
Usually 2-3 patrol cars (Usually TPD), they will sit behind the sign for a church on the right side of the road. The sign has a cross design cut out in it which allows them to remain completely hidden but still clock you all the way down the street. Anybody that lives around here knows about this one (they even had a write up on it in the local paper!). Speed limit changes from 45 to 50 then to 55 then back down to 45 within a 2-3 mile stretch along here so its pretty confusing. I’ve lived here for 4 1/2 years and I don’t know what it is at any given point on the road.
E. Hillsbr. Ave. @ the bridge near 56 th st.
Motorcycle cop parks at the bottom of the westside of the hill and waits on speeders….
Whiteway Between 46th and 56th Streets
Usually at least two motorcycle cops hiding in front of or across the street from Bell Packaging.
I think he’s hoping to catch people speeding to or away from Busch Gardens.
At times they also have a cruiser around the corner of 50th. In the last few weeks I’ve seen cops there EVERY DAY
Speed limit is supposed to be 25 but is not well marked at all so be careful!
I-275 between fletcher and bearss exits (northbound)
Going North on I-275, after fletcher overpass, state troopers sit on east side of road, one car, 2-5 motorcycles. Trooper leans against cruiser holding radar gun, and hand signals to cycle troopers who is speeding
Serena (Bougainvillia) between 46th St and 52nd St
Residential area just east of Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. Speed limit is 35 but is not well marked. They will give you a 5 MPH leeway but that is all.
