Duluth, Georgia Speed Traps

Going south on Sugarloaf coming around the curve and speedlimit is 45, noone obeys the speed, they all think it is the Altanta Speedway and going north is the worse.
2 Gwinnett County Patrol cars with their lights off sitting in front of the IKON building entrace just before Premier Business Pkwy at 5a.m. and sometimes 1 during PM rush hour. So watch your speed.

Several Gwinnett County motorcycle cops with lasers along the innner emergency lane on consecutive mornings during the Summer of 2004. Between Pleasant Hill and 316. Posted limit is 65 mph, but traffic routinely flows ~80 mph. Typically, 2, 3, or 4 cars pulled over at any given time.

Our boys have found it quite amusing to either sit at the entrance to the unfinished Sugarloaf Pkwy behind the barrels and signs or to sit directly across of up about 1/4 mile from it and run their radar. They are usually clocking people going North, but I have seen them get people going South. It’s a 55 zone and they might give you 60 if you’re lucky. I have seen motorcycles and cars (some without light bars) at this location. Look for them anytime of day. You spot them like sitting ducks from the top of the hill before the pkwy during the day, but be careful at night.

If you’re traveling north on Buford Hwy watch out as you come down the hill the speed changes from 45 to 35 (unrealistic on that kind of slope, i guess they want to wear out everyone’s brakes). There is generally an officer or two on motorcycles clocking people coming down that hill and they mean business. I would say 2 to 3 days of the work week at lunch hour.

IF it is possible to post this will save someone some grief. On highway 120 in Duluth GA, beside Duluth Middle school. Motorcycle police sit far to the side of the stop sign. If you do not completely stop, you get a ticket. After receiving my ticket I went back and watched 25 of 25 cars roll thru the stop sign. The engineering is incorrect at the intersection.
