Speed trap and racial profiling. Possibility is high that you will stop for driving for being black especially if you are driving a nice car. I was stopped over the weekend. They said they stopped me for my tint. However, I know why I was stopped. Three officers and me. A stretch of Hwy 300 where there was no phone service. They had me to roll down all of my windows. I did. They asked me to cut off my car. I told them no. They asked all kind of questions like where I was coming from…where I was headed…was I meeting friends there…they even asked to look under my hood of my car.

Besides how rude the corporal was he told me I was driving 62 in a 45. I told him I was doing 49 and he could write a ticket for that speed if he would like to. He told me the brand new laser detector does not lie.I’m guessing the guy behind it does due to having my cruse control set to 49 and having to slow down due to the car that was ahead of me slowing down. He got really rude when I pointed out my work vehicle was monitored by gps remotely and I will call my boss to have the records pulled and printed. So when I asked for an exact time the lazier hit my vehicle so we can match speeds he refused to give me the time. He said when you come back down to court I’ll have the info. Of course I live 3hrs north of this hole of a town so I’m in the decision of bringing my records to prove him wrong and spending the money in gas and costing me a day off work. Maybe a call to a investigative news team should be made. I’m hearing this happens a lot there they even got my brother last year and amazing 62 was the speed they got him at he said he was doing about 50.

I was on my way to Mexico Beach with my children – I was aware of the speeding violations in this area so I slowed my vehicle to 50mph (55 zone) I saw the officer sitting up ahead on the side of the road headed in my direction. As I approached, he turned his light on. I was thinking he had clocked someone in the opposite direction, although I never saw his radar and he was not turned facing my vehicle. I made the statement that he was about to pull someone over so I moved into the right lane to allow him to pass. To my surprise he pulled me over and told me I was going 62 in 45. I knew there was no way ! I decided it was a no win situation and continued on. On the way home 3 days later, My husband was driving and my son was behind us in his truck. We were both traveling 40mph. There were several police cars on the side of the road and in the median spread along the same area. We were discussing my situation when my husband looked in his rear view and said, He is coming up behind us with his lights on. I am thinking "No Way" He pulled my son over. We pulled over with him and was told to go park and he would deal with us when he was finished with my son. My son asked if he was speeding and the officer told him that he was not but had illegal tint. We just purchased this vehicle from Butler Toyota in Macon Georgia and had no idea at all that the tint was illegal. Vehicle was purchased used, but we never knew this . I explained to the officer that he is a college student and that he had just purchased vehicle from a large dealership in Macon and we did not know, Explained that I had just gotten a ticket on the way down and was there anyway he could get a warning and we would get it fixed immediately. Ticket was already written at this point and he said he was sorry – we could either pay the fine or go to court. I cannot believe this ! Turned out to very a very expensive weekend getaway for my family. Any suggestions ?

Anywhere in Warwick is a speed trap. Lost my license there back in 2001, they didnt even have the 45 mph signs up back then, they lost the use of their radar for a short while, since then they have put 45mph signs on both sides of Ga 300. Went through there in June 2012 and i wasnt speeding but they pulled us over for window tint, $250 fine. They told us that they normally take people to jail for this, but they recently just stopped that! Thinking about just going through Tifton from now on.

Pulled over for following too closely. No accident. Wasn’t speeding. And I wasn’t following too closely. Nothing at all unsafe. Cop was on side of road. Am from out of state with out of state plates. Fine is $250. This seems to be more about generating revenue not safety or traffic law
