The speed limit on McCarty is 35–for a four lane through street? Anyway, cops will sometimes sit behind the electrical substation right next to the Cat Soccer Park and catch people coming from E and W on McCarty. This is especially prevalent during both rush hours.

Police will sit just off US 52 bypass at the entrance to Staleys and the Norfolk Southern railyard. This stretch is posted 40 mph, but it’s easy along here to go faster. They will get you coming over the bridge from the west or from around the curve to the south.

Highway U.S. 231 Tippecanoe County

Lafayette, IndianaJul 16, 20020 Comments

Throughout the "new" two-lane extension of U.S. 231 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana State Police set up speed traps. Their favorite spots are stop sign intersections with county roads. They will sit about 100 yards off the highway, on the county road, hidden by the earthen embankments, ready to pull over anyone going over 60 with the posted speed limit being 55. The county sheriff deputies like to sit under the railroad bridges one mile north of the intersection of U.S. 231 and State Road 25. As you approach them they are facing you on the right. It is hard to see them, because of the curve and hill.
