Gaithersburg, Maryland Speed Traps
N Frederick Road near Bottom of Bridge going S. towards Rockville
3/18/04. Police armed with radar or something on a tripod.
They get you at the top of the hill, and by the time your over the bridge the cops walk out into the street and direct you to the side of the road where you get your ticket.
Interstate 270 Northbound near Shady Grove Road
Maryland State Police sit on the left median of I-270 under various overpasses, before, after, and including Shady Grove Road. I have observed this mainly on Sunday mornings beginning around 9 AM. The shadows from the bridges make the (already camouflage-painted) cars hard to see. The left shoulder is quite generous through that stretch, and police will step out up to two lanes and direct traffic over there. Keep your eyes open, stay to the right, and slow down if need be.
Montgomery Village Avenue
2 to 3 police cars wait in entrace to
Montgomery Village Country Club behind large shrubs/sign. 1 car checks speed, other cars make traffic stops.
Thomas Farm and Centerway Road
They wait for you right near Whetstone Elementary School. Sometimes before school, but mostly just after school has let out.
Longdraft Rd between Clopper and Great Seneca HWY
This is the BEST speed trap I have seen!! As your driving from Clopper side to Great Seneca side the road is winding the officer can see your car for about 1/4 mile and you CAN NOT see them they sit in the neigborhood to the right. I was pulled over and in the 10 minutes I was there they pulled over every car that came through the road!
