Watkins Mill Road

Gaithersburg, MarylandJul 22, 20060 Comments

Inbetween Apple Ridge Rd and Stedwick Rd. Cops sit in the middle turn lane at the top of the hill (Very close to apple ridge rd) trying to catch people heading towards Germantown. You can’t see them until it’s to late due to you being at the bottom of the hill and the slight curve of the road. Only seen them at night.

Interstate 370 near Bridge

Gaithersburg, MarylandJul 13, 20060 Comments

I travel this road EVERYDAY going both directions (east & west) and there are always cops on this road, mostly traveling in the direction towards the Shady Grove Metro Station (west) but are ALWAYS posted up checking speed in the direction towards Great Seneca Highway (west). There is usually a cop posted up just after you go under the bridge before you reach Fields Road – BEWARE! The speed limit is 55.

Watkins Mill Road near Near the Radio Tower Bridge on Watkins Mill Road

Gaithersburg, MarylandJul 06, 20060 Comments

This is probably the most popular radar spot within the Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, and Germantown area. Why? Because Watkins Mill road has a high incline at that point and drivers are caught by police either upshifting to get up the hill or merely gliding down the other direction. The speed limit is 35 miles per hour which is entirely unreasonable and police take advantage of this. They’ll either hide on the right side of the road (sometimes on the sidewalk even) if your going towards Montgomery village (up the hill) or right off the road where it eventually curves to the left at the bottom of the hill (going away from Montgomery village). The reason that police frequent this spot is because this section of Watkins Mill road is protected by THREE police departments. Montgomery county police, Gaithersburg police and Montgomery county park police. I live less than a mile away and police do everything to hide their radar setup. Police cars have been sitting on sidewalks behind trees, hidden behind "broken down vehicles", and even concealed by open trunks and police car hoods. This stop is completely made to fulfill a end of the month quota. There hasn’t been a speed caused accident or injury on this road in YEARS. Don’t get fooled.

State Highway Mid-County

Gaithersburg, MarylandJul 05, 20060 Comments

Mid-County Highway….where to begin. Heading towards Goshen Rd and Mont. Village Ave, right at MidCounty curves to the left, where the new housing development is. Have seen County Police on the side of the road, as well as hiding Inside the development, waiting. Also, a few times, they have set up traps after the development, before the light at Goshen. Heading back the opposite direction (towards Saybrooke/124) have seen traps on the right side of the road, hidden by the shade of the trees. Also, they have used umarked, traveling, cars. Be careful!

State Highway 124 near NIST facility

Gaithersburg, MarylandDec 28, 20050 Comments

A cop often waits to get people doing 40 plus in the 35 zone on the stretch of 124 sandwiched between NIST and Eckards. He hides just over the hill.
