Kansas City, Missouri Speed Traps
Interstate 635 near Argosy Casino
This is the area of the new construction of the bridge next to the river. They have the speed limit cut down to 50 mph. The cops are loving this b/c the people tend not to slow down in due to no one ever seeming to be working on the construction. The cops are preying on this. They are using LIDAR to catch you so you have no chance with a radar detector.
Ward Parkway near South of Myer
Driving the speed limit of 35mph on this 3 lane blvd. is dangerous… but traffic officers don’t mind as it’s an easy place to raise revenue… Officers sit on side streets especially monitoring the northbound lane
Ambassador Drive near Tiffany Place Street
The cops generally have two cars and a motorcycle. The rest at the top of the hill (Ambassador and Tiffiny Place, right after the 152 Hwy overpass) and pick off motorists traveling in the northbound direction. The speed limit is 35 which for general driving seems very low. The cops are kinda in the open yet I see people getting picked off all the time.
129th Street near Blue Ridge Boulevard
If you take Main Street in Grandview west towards Blue Ridge, it turns into 129th Street. It’s the hilly road. I had never seen a cop radaring there until recently, and there were two on bikes that like to hide in someone’s driveway, obscured by all the trees and bushes that line the road. This is a really hard street NOT to speed on due to the hills and the speed limit being so low (30 mph). Be careful, they will definitely write you a ticket!
Interstate I-70 near 23rd Street
Kansas City Police will kneel down behind the handrail on the 23rd Street overpass over I-70 with Radar or Laser and will radio your vehicle ID to a car or mororcycle officer sitting on the Eastbound and or Westbound entrance ramps. It’s impossible to see them until you are along side the persuit vehicle on the entrance ramp which by that time already has your vehicle description and or license number. Do not tell them you don’t know how fast you were going or they will nearly always add 5-10 or even 20 MPH to the ticket. The speed limit is 55 MPH through there. So make sure you are going 55 when you come out of the Jackson Curve (going Westbound) and the same as you pass by Truman Road.(Eastbound) Do Not try to argue with them, because they are famous for thumping people’s heads, so save the argument for court. A friend of mind wound up with over 30 stitches in his forehead, a broken jaw, 6 broken teeth and a night in jail for arguing with the Officer.
