Kansas City, Missouri Speed Traps

This speed trap is often located on Truman Road just west of I-435 at the bridge over the railroad tracks. cops will sit on the side of the bridge attempting to catch speeders as they come over the bridge. They also will sit in west of the bridge in front of a church. Motorcycle cops will often stand along the side of the road with radar in hadn and stop speeders by standing in traffic and flagging you over. This spot is right by QuickTrip, a favorite hangout of cops.

Usually 2-3 motorcycle officers running radar. They are positioned around a small curve in front of the I-35 on ramp. They have recently been there at least once per week when the weather is nice. I have seen as many as 4 cars pulled over at once. I was told by one officer they are not required (per federal guidelines) to show the radar speed. Does anyone know if this is true?

KC MO Marked police car sits (in dark @ 6:15 AM winter time with lights off) on the westbound shoulder about 100-150 feet west of the I-29 southbound exit as Rt 152 starts downhill. BURST laser, lit up new Cobra after passing hillcrest and past cloverleaf to right onto South I-29. KC MO city court REQUIRES A LAWYER to appeal your ticket or convert to a lesser item. I was cited for 71 in 60 although traffice before the downhill was running faster… clearly a trap…purely a revenue generator for a KC MO city budget! The dark cop car was more of a hazard than driving at prevailing speeds… I moved into left lane to avoid something with a reflector, then his laser/radar or something hit me .. and lit up all the lights on my new Cobra when I was only 50 feet from the cop…

This is a favorite area when it is a slow night for the KCPD. They usually sit right before the Van Brunt Exit or US 40 highway on ramp. They look for any traffic violations, and also for possible DUI’s (two very popular strip clubs very close by). Also, this exit is convienient for them, as the East Patrol station is just a few blocks north on Van Brunt. Generally, they target those driving westbound, as I have never seen them on the eastbound lanes.

Going South on Broadway about halfway to 31st Street, KCPD likes to sit on the left hand side and run radar at traffic coming up the hill. You can’t see them but they can see you, speed limit 35 through here. They like to run from about 10 AM until 3 PM. Usually from about the 15th to the 28th of the month.
