US Highway US Route 250 near US Highway US Route 20

Norwalk, OhioFeb 16, 20080 Comments

On US Route 250 between Route 20 and State Route 162 there is a posted "target enforcement area". The police are constantly out looking for speeders and/or passing cars. Route 250 is one lane in each direction and has a high volume of semi-truck traffic. Often, getting stuck behind someone doing 45 mph (posted speed is 55) it is necessary to pass. The problem is the police are not enforcing the hazards posed by one car backing up a mile of traffic, thus causing people to pass. This is a very heavily patrolled stretch of road. Be careful!

US Highway 20 near State Route 18

Norwalk, OhioNov 05, 20071 Comments

SR 18 intersects US 20 near Norwalk Oio. US 20 is a 4 lane divided highway this is in a rural setting. The posted speed limit for some reason however is 55mph. The Ohio State Patrol is using aircraft – which were not even visible without retracing the route and finding them far off the road. There is a 2mi marked trap where they are timing traffic and have several troopers pulling vehicles over once they have you. By the time you are even aware of the fact you are being monitored – they simply pull you over and write a citation. This is not a high traffic area, nor in a high population area, and the area is marked specifically for this purpose.

West Street near Main St. Street

Norwalk, OhioAug 26, 20050 Comments

Traveling south on West Street the street is immediately residential with cars parked along side the street which makes it almost impossible to speed because the street is so crowded and one has to move over to let another car pass if they are coming from the opposite direction. After the residential section of that street comes to an end the street turns into a manufactering area. No signs posted as to the speed so one feels free to pick of the speed a little. Then after a railroad crossing there is a slight hill with a dip and you are once again immediately in a residential area. In that dip to the left as you travel south usually sits a city patrolman.

I-20 runs parallell to I-80

Norwalk, OhioJan 01, 20020 Comments

The speed slows WAY down from 55 to 35 mph. You’ll save $10 on this scenic alternate to the I-80 turnpike, but will pay big $$ for tickets here!
