Douglas Blvd, south of I-40 @ Tinker

Oklahoma City, OklahomaOct 29, 20100 Comments

Douglas Blvd, just south of I-40 by Tinker. Motorcycle units, and unmarked OKCPD cars hide at the Tank-N-Tummy gas station and clock in the 40 mph zone both directions. There’s a hill right before the gas station and one by the main Tinker gate where they pinpoint speeders. They mostly use the gas station, but the bike cops will sit next to a tree, or cruiser patrol in the gravel drive on the west side of Douglas before the gate. Unmarked cruisers will drive back and forth on Douglas using moving radar to clock oncoming traffic. This is a VERY common speed trap area! This is quite the unsafe area to speed, so most actually DO deserve a ticket in the 40 mph zone. I see people driving 60+ every day in that area. SLOW it down!!!

I-240 westbound from Douglas Blvd@Tinker to Sunnylane

Oklahoma City, OklahomaOct 22, 20100 Comments

On a daily basis, the OK State Troopers hide completely out of view, over the the crest of a hill, in low-lying grassy ditches behind the crash water barrels, totally out of sight, at the highway sign posts, within 100 ft (1 second at 70 mph) of passing view. There is NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER of seeing them, or slowing down before you are clocked, busted! A radar detector DOES pick them up very well in advance, but only IF they aren’t using instant-on radar (which Ive never encountered in this speed trap area). Heads up! Don’t speed west bound I-240 from Tinker to Sunnylane, unless you consider yourself the expert speeder. Oklahoma troopers will do anything to collect your money, so don’t speed if you don’t know the tricks.

I-235 Northbound, near OpubCo newspaper.

I’ve personally witnessed very bored, unmarked OKCPD units hiding completely CONCEALED behind the wall on the east side of the northbound
I-235, facing north at Wilshire on-ramp, but theyll use any I-235 wall. You’ve got a ZERO chance of beating the speed trap, unless you are utilizing a decent detector, but be VERY quick to react. Oklahoma is full of VERY bored patrolmen who take pleasure in hiding in the trees, ditches, walls, water barrels, ANYTHING to get revenue. This state is RIDICULOUS, and they can’t find a better way to collect money, obviously. DONT let them get the best of you… I have better things to spend money on, and I’m sure you do also.

Between Memorial Rd and Edmond Rd

Oklahoma City, OklahomaOct 05, 20100 Comments

On Western, Pennsylvania Avenue, 150th, and 164th Streets, between Memorial and Edmond Roads in northwest Oklahoma City, there are various speed traps. There are two Oklahoma City cops who missuse their positions of power to prey upon and harrass people in this area and issue ticket upon ticket, even if you aren’t doing anything wrong, which it’s their word over yours. The first cop specializes in giving speeding tickets to people driving in the construction zones on 164th and Pennsylvania Avenue, where the speed limit is not clearly posted and changes almost immediately 2 or 3 different times along each road. He claims to click you yet when I was pulled over, my radar detrector never went off. The second cop will follow you until he finds anything he can to pull you over. He especially enjoys patrolling 164th by the neighborhood Wal-Mart SMS Fenwick and construction on Pennsylvania Avenue and around Western, between 150th and 164th. He will give you tickets for everything from speeding when you just turned onto the street, to improper turns or change of lane when you simply turned a corner or switched lanes to turn, even with signals on and all. He will even follow you into your neighborhood and issue parking tickets for parking at a curb and parking on the line in a parking spot. He bragged that he just gave two tickets to the same guy in one hour and continued to harrass and belittle me to the point of tears when he pulled me over for 1 of 3 tickets he issued to me in a 45 day period. Note: he and his partners memorize car makes and models and make mental notes of people living in the area or who regularly drive in the area to target when issuing tickets. Monitor your speed carefully and watch out when you are driving in this area. Avoid these guys at all costs.
