Mopac South at 290 overpass

Austin, TexasMay 14, 20020 Comments

South bound Mopac (Loop 1) right before the 290 West Exit, the speed limit changes to 55 while you’re still on the highway. For those heading further south towards William Cannon lookout for three locations. First a cop sometimes hangs out on the left hand side on a blind curve/hill, second they’ll hang out on the right on a ramp that’s half built and hide behind it ready to launch after you, and third sometimes they’ll hide out in the parking lots from when you get off the highway till the Randalls at William Canon. Usually once a month they’re there.

Recently speed limit through town on RM 620 has gone from 55 to 50 mph. DON’T Speed – anytime. Also, watch for school bus stops on the highway – even though your on the other side of the hwy you will get ticketed – so stop if you see school bus lights flashing.

38th 1/2, Red River, entire area around Hancock Golf Course

Austin, TexasMay 13, 20020 Comments

They wait for you to come down the hioll on 38th 1/2, headed towards Red River. It is 35 MPH posted, but heading down the hill you pick up speed to around 45. They wait on the side streets and nailed me on Red river, actually gave me a ticket for going 40 MPH, 5 miles over the limit. But it is residential & full of students, so….BE CAREFUL!
