Austin, Texas Speed Traps
9000 Block United Kingdom Dr
Local police radar commuters trying to get home and speed of 30 MPH on this street is tooooo slow!
I-35 and Riverside Drive
Police are mostly getting red light offenders, but are hidden on both sides of I-35 and using a plaincloth officer who’s standing on the corner like a homeless person.
Pleasant Valley, between Oltorf and Riverside
Heading down Pleasant Valley, from Oltorf to Riverside, there’s a short dead-end road on the right, directly across the street from Metropolis Apartments, that usually has a few buses parked in it. Once every week or two, there’ll be two motorcycle cops sitting there all morning. It’s coming down off a hill, so it’s pretty easy pickings for them; they’ll pull somebody over, finish writing the ticket, and then have to wait maybe thirty seconds to find somebody else to pull over. Be careful.
MLK Blvd. between 183 and Spingdale Rd.,
Police patroll sit at bottom of down slope that cant be seen until too late. Even if driving at speed limit (50 mph) car will naturally accelerate as it goes down hill. I was given a citation for going 60 mph.
South First, between Stassney & St. Elmo, right after the school zone heading South
A motorcycle cop radars from a slightly raised parking area of a day care center. Since it is raised, it makes visiblity virtually impossible. Everyone that I office with has been stopped by this officer. He’s not too pleasant either. Also, he’s at the bottom of a hill. Your car naturally rolls down at 45, while the speed limit is 35.
