We have travelled up and down the east coast for over 20 years visiting family & when we go through Emporia there is Always someone pulled over truckers also beware! Anyone travelling through this particular town in Virginia – probably connecting to I-95, please drive slowly – I know the signs may say 45 but honestly, those have only changed within the last few years….I strongly recommend driving no more than 35—40 tops through that area just to be safe.

US Highway q2 58 near Interstate 95

Emporia, VirginiaMar 27, 20060 Comments

US Highway 58 East and West runs through the town of Emporia. Interstate 95 runs through the town North and South. The enforcement is mostly along Highway 58. You can expect to be ticketed for speeding anywhere along a ten mile stretch on either side of the town. The police are usually hidden in areas that cannot be seen from the roadway – usually behind hilly terrain. I travel the road almost weekly, and it is a rare occasion that I ever pass through it without seeing drivers being ticked on both the East and West portions of the road.
