The new road they are building about a half mile off the Hpt. Rds. Center Pkwy ramp, right near the sign. Not as often as they used to, but still been spotted. Take it easy around there.

Interstate 64, 264, 164, 168

Hampton, VirginiaJul 02, 20051 Comments

The 55 MPH speed limits on 64, 264, 164, and 168 in Chesapeake are a joke. Traffic on these roads routinely runs 65-70, yet the speed limit remains at 55? The speed limit on 664 (in Chesapeake/Suffolk) and 464 is 60, and traffic speeds are virtually the same as the other highways. (A little proof for all you revenue collectors that raising speed limits doesn’t cause people to drive faster.) Actually, seems to me cars are usually faster on these roads with 55 limits than the others.

You would think now that the cities in this region are seeing increased tax $$ with real estate values going through the roof they wouldn’t need to rely on speed traps to make money any more.

Mercury Boulevard near La Salle Avenue

Hampton, VirginiaMar 23, 20050 Comments

As you are travelling East on Mercury, just past the LaSalle overpass, the Hampton City Police wait off the side of the road. Be sure you are not doing more than 50MPH (45MPH Limit). You will not see him until the last second. The HPD cars are either pale blue and white or just white, so they are very hard to spot. He is there at odd hours of the day and night.

Didn’t see the car until the lights were on behind me.

Orcutt Avenue near Hazelwood Drive

Hampton, VirginiaAug 13, 20040 Comments

When traveling on Orcutt Ave. towards Mercury Blvd. a Hampton cop will sit on the Hazelwood Dr. side street where it is very dark. I have seen him there between 0530 and 0630.
