Seattle, Washington Speed Traps
State Route 99 near 65 NW Avenue
As you exit the Green Lake S-curves on 99 north, patrol car is waiting in parking lot next to 7-11.
State Highway 99 Aurora Avenue near State Highway 99
North of the Aurora Bridge, before the Woodland Park Zoo. SPD has brand new sneaker "traffic enforcement cars" – they have at least three deep-gray gun-metal-silver Dodge Chargers, with white SPD stripes / logos and no overhead lights: these will be virtually invisible in cloudy / rainy weather and especially after dark. Watch out!
75th NE Avenue near 18th Avenue
Bike cops out with radar or laser guns at 09:50 am. Watch the are right on the corner of 75th and 18th ave NE on the north side of the intersections! 3 of them! Slow down and avoid that ticket!
W. Seattle Bridge Street near 4th Avenue Ramp Avenue
Westbound, the 4th Avenue ramp has been closed to vehicles. SPD sits in wait in an upward position on the ramp just w-a-i-t-i-n-g for you to go whizzing by! The bridge has a low MPH at that point, so use care not to go over the limit (I think it’s about 30 right there). Frequently, I’ve seen at least 2 motorbikes working the stretch…
State Highway 99 Aurora Nbound near N 40th thru 45th St. Street
Northbound on 99 after you’ve cleared the bridge, pay attention to the parking lot of the motels and strip malls at the right side, just south of the zoo. Husband & I have seen SPD on motorbikes there, working radar. The trap has had as many as 5 bikes in wait. It’s a particularly difficult stretch because you are on a slight uphill and more likely to be accelerating after clearing the bridge, right before the zoo.
