Seattle, Washington Speed Traps
15th Avenue near Ballard Bridge
Heading North on 15th Ave W, over the Ballard Bridge – 30 or 35 MPH zone but motorcycle police are always set up (radar) in
the Subway, auto parts store or the Safeway parking lots.
Any time, day or evening.
Interstate 5 near downtown
If you think that there’s nowhere for them to see you on the express lanes blazing through downtown northbound, think again. I deserved the ticket, but I couldn’t believe there was a place to hide. Don’t be fooled just because you are in a tunnel.
I-5 northbound at 145th St.
As you come over the hill they sit under the 145th St overpass behind some jersey barriers.
I-90 Eastbound MP-4 or 5
Eastbound from Seattle on I-90 towards Mercer Island just after exiting the Seattle side tunnel and on the down slope to the I-90 floating bridge over Lake Washington. WA State Police on shoulder in broad daylight with radar. I was only doing 60 mph as I popped out of the tunnel and headed down hill onto the floating bridge. The radar was singing loud and long.
State Highway 99
This speedtrap is located on northbound highway 509, also known as the BIR- Burien International Raceway. I have driven this road literally 1000’s of times and there is almost never a speedtrap EXCEPT northbound when you start down the large hill approaching the 1st ave. south bridge. I see cops there occationally pulling people over as they speed up going down the hill and around a winding turn that allows them to hide. So be careful and go 68 until you see around the turn, then resume normal speed. 🙂
