Madison, Wisconsin Speed Traps
Packers ave In front of Oscar Myers
City of Madison rconstructed road and now has limite access both sides but 35 mile per hour speed limit still exists for the sole purpose of extracting cash from commuters entering Madison to work during rush hour. Speed trap used creates hazards by putting police on the sie of the road behind light pole on a bend. No updated traffic engineering report was done. Thsi trap would be an excellent candidate for a class action suite against the city of Madsion.
Packers Ave. Just over Aberg
One officer sits on Packers facing towards Aberg right in front of Oscar Mayer hiding behind a light pole. They nail you just as you come over Aberg Ave and come down the hill. They like to sit there when most people are leaving MATC and heading back into Madison. I believe the speed limit is 35 but watch it.
U.S. 12/18, east of I-39/90 and west of County N
Dane County Sheriff car will drive on this stretch of highway with their radar gun on. The speed limit on this stretch of road is 55 MPH (other rural 4-lane areas in WI, even with cross traffic, are 65 MPH). Sheriff will gun oncoming cars in the other direction and if tagged, will swing around at a u-turn spot (there are many) and get you. I was caught here doing 70 MPH. Since purchasing a radar detector I have picked up this same tactic on more than one occasion.
East Washington Ave.
