Interstate 39/90/94 near Exit Number 138

Madison, WisconsinMay 14, 20070 Comments

Just north of the intersection of I-94/39/90, where 94 splits off to go to Milwaukee and turns into WI-30, at exit 138, there is a U-turn that leads into a maintenance building. Around the U-turn is a series of screens along a fence. One or two Wisconsin state patrol cars will sit in this U-turn and try to catch speeders from either direction. This is a highly popular speed trap, I almost always see a cop in this location.

US Highway 40165 near Exit Number 263

Madison, WisconsinAug 10, 20060 Comments

Right on the exit of John Nolan Drive off of the Beltline, a cop will sit on a motorcycle and a radar gun, back off the highway, almost in the grass. They’re very hard to see unless you’re very close up.

US Highway 151 near CONSTRUCTION AREA

Madison, WisconsinMay 27, 20060 Comments

Construction area between Madison and Sun Prairie. Cops like to sit either on the Hwy C interchange (northbound) or are in the construction site itself and call to their buddies who are at the end of the construction area (southbound).

John Nolen Drive near The Colesium

Madison, WisconsinMar 08, 20060 Comments

Madison police sit in the Colesium entryway to parking across from the park entrance and the Sheraton Hotel to catch cars going south out of Madison at night. For some reason, the speed drops to 35 even though traffic always flows at 45 or better. I caught my ticket at 1:30 am with no traffic around.

S Fair Oaks Avenue near Atwood Avenue

Madison, WisconsinAug 29, 20050 Comments

Speedtrap is on S Fair Oaks Ave between Milwaukee Street and Atwood Ave and the officer usaully hides in the Kessinichs driveway or the road leading to the old Garver feedmill by Olbrich Garden. Both I and my husband got speeding tickets within a matter of weeks from each other. I was driving the 1989 Olds stationwagon with my 11 yo son in the front seat and my husband got a ticket on a Saturday night with our old beater 1985 Chevy Truck and the officer asked if he had any drugs or guns in the back. I’m 55 and never received a speeding ticket in my life and my husband hadn’t gotten one for over 12 years. I’ve driven this same stretch of road/street since 1991 with no previous problems. Appears to be an overzealous officer on this beat eager to take money out of the pockets of the poor Madison residents who receive little "good service" for all the money we pay, and tickets like these are totally unnecessary-my children need this, not the Madison Police Dept.
