Motorcycle cops hiding on side streets between Redondo Ave and Orande Ave off of Ocean Blvd

Atlantic Avenue near Carson Street

Long Beach, CaliforniaMay 05, 20050 Comments

This is tricky. Atlantic Avenue, at the northern end of Bixby Knolls. Between Carson and about Bixby, the speed limit is 30 — was 25. You’ll feel like doing 35-40, but DON’T. Motorcycle cops sit and wait on the west side of the street, just past Jamba juice, by the Jewish center. You WILL get nailed if you’re going more than 30. Let the speeders pass you by. They’ll get the ticket, and you’ll get the laugh.

Paramount Boulevard near South Street

The west side of the street is refineries; east is residential. 2 northbound, 2 southbound lanes between South Street and Artesia Blvd. Careful! Your instinct is to drive 40-45 here, but DON’T! You will get nailed. Speed limit was 30, but is now 35. Don’t go a mile over. Motocycle cops park on the east side (on residential side streets), but also inbetween big-rigs parked along the west side. People love to speed here, and will climb up your tailpipe to "move you along" — it happened to me and I caved. Got a ticket there because the jerk was riding my tail. Cop never saw the guy behind me. Oh well.

Aneheim Street near Park Street

I just started seeing a motorcycle cop sitting right on Park St., just west of Clark St. catching east and westbound traffic. Hides right behind the building so traffic coming off PCH won’t see him till it’s too late. Speed limit 35.

Broadway Street

On Broadway between Ximeno and Cherry St. Wach out because the speed limit changes from 30 to 25. I have been pulled over in the morning. I see bike cops sometimes hiding.
