ABORN Road near White / San Felipe Road

San Jose, CaliforniaFeb 02, 20060 Comments

Head down towards the Albertsons / White Rd. / San Felipe intersection. There is a set of four police officers, two on bikes, one with a laser scope and a flagger. The set up posts right right before the shopping center. They’ll bust you for speeding (40 mph limit) to not having a front license plate. They caught me for the plate, but I didnt get my plates yet, so they let me go. They post on both sides of the street, but usually towards the Albertsons direction.

I’ve seen police officers with lasers scanning the oncoming traffic twice in this location (have been ticketed once :-). It is common for traffic to drive above speed limit of 40 mph at this segment.

Cropley Avenue near Lakewood Drive

San Jose, CaliforniaAug 08, 20050 Comments

During the weekday mornings, police radar drivers on westbound Cropley Avenue, as they descend the downslope of the street after it passes over Interstate 680. Police are positioned on the right side of the street at the intersection of Lakewood Drive, by the apartment buildings, prior to the next intersection at busy Capitol Avenue. The speed limit is 35 mph, but drivers frequently attain 45 mph, expecially coming down that slope. Enforcement of this type is more frequent in sunny, warm weather, as that’s when the motor officers (motorcycle police) are out in force in this area.

Almaden Expressway near Bryan Avenue

San Jose, CaliforniaJun 15, 20050 Comments

This applies to southbound traffic on Almaden expressway. Bryan Avenue is located midway between Capitol Expressway and Branham Lane. SJPD motorcycle officers sit on a small cement island waiting with instant-on laser to nab speeders here. This stretch of road is three lanes wide, flat, straight and easy to speed on. Keep a look out!
