9th Street near 38th – 54th Avenue

Motorcyle and cruisers constantly set up speed traps in this area, They usually post up on the right hand side heading north bound. The street goes from a 40 to a 35 at 54th ave. and they wait for people coming through, Most people traveling at 45+mph. I see them almost every day mostly the motorcycle officer. Sneaky, and as far I know they don’t let people off on warnings, tickets everytime. Watch out real money maker zone!

Officer sits under the I275 bridge at the onramp/exit, Haven’t seen one there in a while since everyone slows down there due to a light, But they do nail people there alot, Lots of traffic/confusion during rush hour(s), and lots of “Saturday night racers”” at late night.”

Gandy Blvd passes under I275 and there is a trap set there at least once a month with a plainclothes sitting on the embankment with the radar, work truck sitting on the side of the road, and the chase cars on the other side of the interstate. Brought to you by Pinellas County’s Finest.

58th Street near 61st Avenue

Saint Petersburg, FloridaJun 28, 20050 Comments

This is a very commonly traveled street which in some areas is 4 lane and at the start is a 2 lane road the speed limit ranges from 30 to 35 and postings are very spread out you could actually pull on to this road and travel for blocks without seeing a posting and may get off the road before even seeing a posting. The motorcycle cops hide down the street and in the bushes and behind trees and usually no where near a posting. Someone not familiar to the area could be pulled over and told any speed limit and not know the difference. The flow of traffic is pretty heavy but flows real well at about 40-50 miles per hr which should be the speed for this road. This is a favorite spot for that end of the month quota on tickets!
