Honolulu, Hawaii Speed Traps
Eastbound H-1 cut over by Middle St just before the tunnel
At night in the grass area just before the tunnel HPD will have an officer behind the sign that says "Pali Hwy 2 1/2 Miles". If it’s a black low sitting type car like a Camaro you’ll never see it until it’s too late. The speed limit from the H-1 to the cut over is 35MPH
Dole St. and St. Louis Heights
violation.. failure to come to a complete stop at the Dole St. stop sign. It looks like it should be a yeild situation but it is not. HPD waits at the bottom of the hill and flags you over.
Ala Wai Blvd. by McCully Bridge
Officers frequently stopping cars as they turn right onto the McCully St. Bridge. Not sure if this is for speeding; not coming to a complete stop prior to turning right onto the bridge, or if officers are watching for violations having to do with cell phone usage, but they are frequently ticketing drivers in this area. Especially noticed at afternoon rush hour times.
Lagoon Drive
Monitored by Sheriff’s Department. One sits on side of road with radar gun near the Budget Maintenance Facility, the second patrol vehicle sits on the 1st inward street on the back end of Lagoon Dr. There is a second trap set at different times on the outbound lanes of Lagoon Drive going towards Nimitz. The speed reduces from 35 to 25 just before Aolele Street. The patrol vehicle either at the entrance of Ke’ehi Beach Park or in the Chevron Gas Station on the corner.
This is a 4 lane divided road that has alternating speeds of 25 to 35 and back to 25 again. from Nimitz to Pohokaina Street (dead end turn around)
Aolele near Honolulu Int’l Airport
Trap set by Sheriff’s Dept. on Aolele Street between Lagoon Drive and Pai’ea Street. Usually hiding under the entrance ramp for H-1 viaduct. Occasionally on the opposite side of the road hidden behind bushes on the side of the road near Delta Cargo building. Speed limit alternates from 25 to 15 as road nears the airpoet entrance ramps.
